Project Description

Large hedge fund is a private institutional investment management complex consisting of an international team of researchers and technologists who constantly work toward ever-greater quantification and automation in the development of processes

Responsibilities

Read data vendor documentation to understand vendor's data set
Use internal framework to build data downloading mechanism, write internal documents on the data and normalize the data
Use tools (shell scripts, excel, Zeppelin notebook etc.) to do initial analysis on data, find any problem and communicate with the vendor to resolve them
Support on internal questions related to data content & behavior

Skills

Must have

Independent thinking: need to understand vendor supplied data sets
Attention on details: Vendor data sets can be simple, complex or anywhere in between
Able to ask the right question to find problems and resolve them with the vendor or developers
Good communication skills because you will be working with external vendors and internal staff
Knowledge and experience with Python language
Strong understanding of command of SQL
Experience working in a Linux environment

Nice to have

Experience with Spark, pySpark, ETL pipelines is a plus
